Another passion of ours are horses. I always liked horses, but the same time a bit afraid of them. Like many young girls, my dream was to have a horse of my one. Little did I know that one day my husband would buy me one.
In ‘02 We bought "Fjury van de Gothard Chalets". She was a 9 years old mare who had a 5 month old foal, and she didn't look at her best. But I couldn’t help feeling sorry for her and the man promised me that she had a lovely character. He suggested that I should try riding her without a saddle to prove that she was nice. So I did, and it felt right!
Fjury is the best horse I could ever dream of. She has given me confidence in her and in myself. Whenever I am stressed or in a bad mood, I go riding with her in the woods and I feel great again. Our daughters also like to ride Fjury. When our younger daughters rides her, she's even more carefully. The reason we like the Haflinger horses so much is because they are suitable for the whole family, they are strong but cool.
In ‘03 we went with Fjury to a beautiful stallion, "Aaron van ter Beke". And in ‘03 Amtrak was born. It was the first time we’ve seen a foal being born. What a fantastic experience! Amtrak is now a grown Haflinger and he enjoys riding in the woods together with my husband, Fjury and me.
